Ryerson’s SLC achieves LEED Gold status

Ryerson University’s award-winning Student Learning Centre (SLC) has achieved LEED Gold status after surpassing the original goal of LEED Silver compliancy. LEED-certified buildings are those deemed to the resource-efficient (using less water and energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions) through an independent certification process. Among the building’s features that contribute to its LEED Gold status are its green roofs, water-conserving plumbing fixtures, a roof and ground water collection system designed to harvest storm water, and a transparent, temperature-moderating glass exterior.
