The Ryerson lab at MaRS is taking shape quickly – in fact, construction is ahead of schedule, and both completion and occupancy dates have been moved up to August and September respectively! This great progress is a reflection of the superb cooperation of the teams and expert trades.
April saw the completion of the tendering process, with all major contracts now awarded. Installation of the flooring in the wet lab area has started, as has the installation of the facility’s active chilled beam mechanical system. This innovative, cutting-edge technology – carefully calibrated to operate within the lab environment — is highly efficient and is expected to reduce both operating and maintenance costs. Meanwhile, the team also constructed a furniture mock-up of the student workstations.
May and early June site activities will include the completion of the flooring. Also, with the finishes in the data and electrical rooms now complete, contractors hired by Ryerson’s CCS team will begin installing the IT infrastructure and cabling this month.
