This new 30-storey residence tower will accommodate up to 593 students. Located at 186-188 Jarvis Street – less than a five-minute walk to most classes – the residence will offer fully furnished 1-, 2- and 4-bedroom units (each will have a shared kitchen and living room). The design proposes a sleek, modern 30 storey building with retail space at street level. MPI Group is the developer and owner of the Jarvis Street Residence. Ryerson will provide student housing administration services and the residence life programs.
2017: Construction is in progress.
Construction is proceeding. This fall, the superstructure concrete for the above grade levels was completed, up to the 11th floor. Meanwhile, installation of the mechanical systems for P1, P2, and the ground floor is nearly complete (this encompasses drains, sprinkler lines and the water main). Throughout the winter, work will continue on setting the superstructure concrete for floors 8 through 30, and on installing the mechanical systems and electrical rough-ins. The installation of exterior sheathing and cladding will also begin, along with the installation of the elevators.
Construction on the site continues. Recent highlights include the completion of pouring the concrete foundation and underground parking garage structure (Level 2) in Spring and early summer 2016, with the ground floor slab anticipated to be completed this summer, ahead of schedule. Shoring has been adjusted to ensure the project complies with City permits and other requirements.
The process for re-zoning was completed in the Fall of 2014. The builder has mobilized on-site and site works are under way while detailed design work continues.
